Midjourney vs Ideogram AI: Using the same prompts!

Midjourney vs Ideogram AI: Using the same prompts!

In the vast realm of digital artistry, two platforms have emerged as frontrunners in the race for supremacy: Midjourney and Ideogram AI.

While both offer unique capabilities, they cater to distinct niches within the creative community.

Midjourney, with its unparalleled prowess in photorealism, has become the go-to for those seeking lifelike landscapes, portraits, and even anime/manga creations, thanks to its specialized --niji function.

On the other hand, Ideogram AI, though perhaps less adept in the same realms, shines brilliantly when it comes to embedding text within images, offering a unique dimension to visual storytelling.

These platforms, while seemingly in competition, actually complement each other, catering to two distinct user needs.

As we delve deeper into their offerings, we'll explore various prompts that showcase their strengths and prove that in the world of digital creation, there's a tool for every artist.

The 1st prompt to test :

"Charismatic man in his prime, confidently holding a sign in both hands with the bold inscription "You need to master prompts". The man's attire is casual yet stylish, with a hint of sophistication. His eyes gleam with determination, emphasizing the importance of the message on the sign"

On midjourney here is the result :

As you can see, the rendering on Midjourney is undoubtedly incredible when it comes to capturing the quality of the "charismatic man", the details of the hands, and the play of the gaze!

However, when we look at the quality of the text, none of the four generations passed the test.

On Ideogram here is the result :

On the contrary, Ideogram struggled to generate even one "correct" man; that said, after a few tests, it sometimes gets it right!

However, we do notice its excellent ability to incorporate text onto the image!

The 2nd prompt to test, concerns anime style !

Here is the prompt on Midjourney :

"wallpaper Anime Captain Luffy One Piece front view, designed by Toei Animation, [sunset] lighting in the background--ar 2:3 --niji 5"

We observe that Midjourney has managed to maintain important features of the famous character "Luffy".

Yes, there are some flaws in the background. But overall, the overall is well respected.

Here is the prompt on Ideogram :

"wallpaper Anime Captain Luffy One Piece front view, designed by Toei Animation, sunset lighting in the background"

As for Ideogram, we notice that while the character is recognizable, several differences persist.

The body is not well-proportioned and some flaws in the face are clearly detectable.

generation

The 3rd and last prompt will represent "splash painting" style.

Here is the prompt:

"Flaex" written in the background, little colorful splashes painting and with two colorful bones, including chase of paw patrol cartón, imagen, photo, poster, fashion, typography, graffiti, vibrant --niji 5

The use of splash painting will generally be very powerful for fueling media content, for branding or marketing.

This can be for interior design or even product design.

Midjourney was unable to identify which character it was and couldn't generate the accompanying text.

However, it is noteworthy that the quality of the generated cartoon is very high, and the style is faithfully reproduced.

As a result, one of the advantages that Midjourney currently possesses, which Ideogram does not, is the ability to include an image as a reference "in the prompt" to guide future generations.

Upon doing this, it is indeed observed that the character is well preserved, but there are still difficulties, and in some cases, a complete absence of text.

In ths case, we can observe that Ideogram, just from this simple prompt, was able to immediately recognize which cartoon character it was and successfully incorporate the desired style while maintaining perfect readability of the targeted text, "for this, we tested it with Flaex" from our platform!

The two tools, although competitors in the end, turn out to be complementary.

Artists will have the opportunity to use Midjourney to generate highly realistic images, while Ideogram will be a valuable asset for creating media content specialized for your business.

It will be a great tool for generating memes or marketing campaigns with the message you want to convey.

It goes without saying that when Midjourney decides to release their V6 or V7 focusing on text generation within images, that's when the real competition will begin.

Meanwhile, Dall-E 3, set to release soon, will emerge as a formidable competitor, and you can check more information about this revolutionary Generative image!
